Especially for Youth - EFY

Mackenzie had an awesome week at Especially for Youth (EFY) (a week-long church youth conference). It was held at the beautiful University of Puget Sound campus about an hour and 15 minutes from our home. She attended with her good friend Heidi. Brooklyn and I drove the girls down early Monday morning. The girls checked in and then we helped them move into their dorm and then we left to come home. It was so fun to see where they were going to spend their week and see some of the kids they were going to be with. I had a small glimpse of what it will be like when we take Mackenzie off to college in the near future. Mackenzie had an amazing experience and was really touched by the spirit as she attended classes, testimony meetings and listened to speakers. When Mackenzie got home yesterday she spent a good hour sharing with us all the wonderful experiences she had and telling us about the great friends that she made there. She was on her cell phone last night texting back and forth with a couple of the boys that were in her group. Mackenzie and Heidi in their dorm room.
This is a picture of her group. She said that it was fun to have a smaller group. 11 girls and 11 boys in their group.
Here is a picture of Mackenzie with one of the escorts she had during EFY, Alex! The boys in her group would come and pick the girls up each morning and escort them to breakfast. She said that the boys never let the girls take their food trays back to the kitchen - they did it for them. And each night the boys would escort the girls back to their dorms and then yell back together to all of the girls "Good night ladies". Mackenzie was really impressed with how the boys treated them - like queens! We are so happy that Mackenzie was able to go and have her testimony strengthened by this awesome experience.

So glad Mackenzie had a wonderful experience at EFY, sounds like she had a blast. She is so lucky that she got treated like a queen that makes all the difference.
