Annual Cub Scout Cake Bake Auction

Tuesday night we had our annual Cub Scout Cake Bake Auction. The theme this year was "Oh The Places You'll Go". The boys along with their Dad's help made and decorated cakes using this theme. All the cakes were so different and cute. We made about $700.00. We will use the funds we made to go on fun outings with our Cub Scout dens and to purchase supplies for our den and pack meetings. Here are some of the pictures I took of the cakes.

This was the cake that I made. Of all the places I could go...camping sounds really fun right now! Steve helped me create this fun cake.

Gone fishing cake.

You can go to many different places in books.

Doesn't this german chocolate cake look yummy. And it looks just like sand. That big blue ocean is actually a homemade sucker!

The alien and his spaceship from the movie "Toy Story".

The White House.

These are just a few of the cakes we had to auction off that night.

It was a fun evening and I loved spending time with the cub scout boys. They are always so much fun to be around. I am already looking forward to next years auction. Being the Cubmaster I get to chose the theme. Hmmm...what shall the theme be next year?

Deception Pass & Bowman Bay

My parents came to visit us for a week and we had a lot of fun with them here. Saturday we took a drive up North to Bowman Bay and Deception Pass. It was a cold day but gorgeous.

My parents on the pier at Bowman Bay.

Brooklyn and Mackenzie on the Deception Pass bridge.

Mackenzie posing by the Deception Pass Bridge sign.

We drove up to the top of Mount Erie. It was so clear we could see the San Juan Islands. While we were up there 2 hang gliders were getting ready to dive so we stayed and watched them jump!

It was fun watching the hang gliders criss-cross back and forth as the wind took them down.

Brooklyn posing for a picture on a branch of a tree!

We stopped at a park in Anacortes and had a picnic lunch. Fortunately we packed homemade minestrone soup and hot chocolate for lunch. It tasted so good and warmed us up. It was a fun day spending time together with my parents.

Homemade Donuts

Last night for our family home evening activity/treat Steve thought it would be fun to make homemade donuts.

Rolling out the donuts.

Brooklyn and Steve got into a little flour fight. It looks like Brooklyn won by the looks of Steve's shirt!

Check out these perfectly raised donuts ready to be cooked.

Mackenzie and I fried up the donuts and then Steve and Brooklyn put the glaze on them.

Here are the taste-testers! The donuts were really easy to make and so yummy!

Mackenzie & the Youth Talent Show

About 150 youth from church and 70 or so parents and leaders came out last night to support the Youth Talent Show. There were about 20 entries - some piano, comedy and singing performances. Mackenzie participated and we wanted to share her performance with you.

She sang the song "Gravity" by Sara Bareilles. Here she is on stage.

Here's Kenzie after the show.

And here is the video clip of her singing. You will need to scroll to the bottom and turn off the Blog background music first by clicking on the pause button.

Mackenzie's Homemade Cinnamon Rolls...YUM!

Over the holidays one of the things that Mackenzie wanted to do was to make homemade cinnamon rolls. So yesterday was the day! And she did them all by herself! She only had to ask me a couple of things along the way.

Here she is carefully rolling out the dough.

And cutting the dough into rolls.

Fresh out of the oven!

Check out this close up picture of Mackenzie cinnamon rolls! Don't they look good? They were so so so yummy! Nice job Kenz!

New Years Eve Dance & Father Time

Friday night Mackenzie and Brooklyn went to a church youth New Years Eve dance - about 500 or so youth were there. We took this picture before they left for the dance. Wow...are these beautiful grown up girls really our daughters?

They had a great time ringing in the new year with all their friends.

Do you put a shoe out for "Father Time" on New Years Eve? This is a tradition that Steve had in his family when he was a little boy. We have forgotten at times to put our shoes out on New Years Eve but this year we remembered!

We were excited to see that Father Time came and brought some coins, cereal, small toys, a movie ticket and candy to everyone including Kia our dog. She put her dog bowl out as she doesn't have shoes! Happy New Year!
