Cub Scout Cake Bake Auction

Last night we had our Cub Scout cake bake auction. The theme this year was "A-MAZE-ing Games". The boys along with their Dad's help made and decorated cakes using this theme. We had a short pack meeting at the beginning of the evening and gave out the boys awards and then we auctioned off the cakes. I made a cake too and Steve decorated it for me. Our cake was a Nintendo DS game system with Mario on it. There were some "amazing" cakes and they were all so different and cute. We made about $500.00 in the auction. We will use that money to go towards fun and exciting outings and events for our Pack this year. Here are a few pictures we took of the cakes.

This Guitar Hero cake was the hit of the night and went for quite a bit of $$ in the auction!
Arrow of Light puzzle pieces!
Our family bid on this cute Twister Game cake and won the bid. The cake doesn't look like this anymore though! Once we got the cake home all of us dug into it! Yum Yum!

Girl's Day Out

Today for our holiday the girls and I celebrated by going to the mall. Our first stop was to Sephora. Mackenzie got some nice make-up for her Birthday from Sephora so we scheduled an appointment for her to get a make-up consultation using her new make-up. Brooklyn got to have a make-up consultation too. They had a lot of fun and looked really pretty after the girl was done applying and teaching them how to use their make-up. After we left Sephora we went shopping and then out to lunch. A big thanks to Martin Luther King Jr. for having a holiday for us today so we could have our Girl's Day Out! We had a blast!
This picture was taken after Brooklyn and Mackenzie had their make-up consultation! Wow...what a couple of hotties!

Finally...lunch!! Thanks for a fun girl's day out Mackenzie and Brooklyn! I had a great time with both of you crazy-fun girls!

Flooding

After all the snow we got over the holidays it warmed up and rained quite heavily for a couple of days. Not a drizzle rain like we are used to here. It poured down rain and very quickly...almost overnight all of our snow melted. All the rivers and lakes were filling so quickly everything started spilling over and there are floods everywhere. Down in the valley from us about 5 minutes away everything is still under water. We took a drive late Sunday afternoon to check it out and we were shocked! There is so much water down in the Snohomish valley it looks like an ocean for miles. It's unbelievable. Our heart goes out to those people who have lost their homes and farm lands to these floods. Here are some pictures of the valley.

Yes...we can do the "Can-Can"

Yesterday we got a fun package delivered to us by Fed Ex. It was a Christmas gift that we ordered and have been waiting for. It's a food rotation system. One our family goals for 2009 is to improve on our food storage. This food rotation system will make it easier to rotate our food storage. Steve and Mackenzie put the shelfing together while Brooklyn and I cleaned out the food cupboards. Then we all took turns rolling the cans through the new shelfs. For those of you who have read my sister-in-law Pat's blog entry about their food rotation system...we wanted to be just like Pat the "Queen of Can Goods"! Now we too are having fun rolling our food storage cans like the old childhood marble game! Wanna come and roll cans together Pat?

New Years Morning Breakfast

After the dance tonight Mackenzie invited a bunch of friends to come over for a New Years morning breakfast. We served up chocolate chip waffles with strawberries, chocolate sauce and whip cream. They had fun eating, talking and playing a little Wii together until 2:00! Wow can you believe it's 2009? Happy New Year!

Brooklyn's New Years Eve Party

Brooklyn invited two of her friends over for a New Years Eve party tonight. They had fun hanging out, playing games and being silly! They had ice cream and played the Wii until just before midnight. A few minutes before midnight they grabbed some pots, pans and wooden spoons and headed outside to bang on the pans at the stroke of midnight. Our neighborhood has quite the fireworks show on New Years Eve so we all enjoyed the entertainment!

New Years Eve Dance

Mackenzie had her friend Heidi spend the night last night so that they could hang out today and get ready together for the Stake New Years Eve dance tonight. Here they are all dolled up and ready to go. Wow...watch out boys...here comes Mackenzie and Heidi! :-}
