Senior Photo Shoot

The weekend before school started we had a fun photo shoot with Brooklyn. She has to submit a photo to the yearbook committee for her senior portrait so we decided to take them ourselves. And for the amateur photographers that we are they didn't turn out too bad!

The tricky part is going to be picking just one photo! Brooklyn is so photogenic and we have about 150 pictures to chose from!

First Day os School - Senior Year

Our summer officially ended last week when Brooklyn headed back to school.

Brooklyn is a senior in High School this year.
This is a picture of Brooklyn on the first day of Kindergarten 13 years ago. Boy time goes by so quickly. Where have the years gone?
I am going to miss having Brooklyn around during the day. We have had a fun summer together.
And I'm not the only one who will be sad. Kia loves Brooklyn and will miss not having her around during the day.
Brooklyn has her drivers license now so she can drive herself to early morning seminary and to school each day. Seminary starts tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. sharp!! We're looking forward to sharing this fun and exciting senior year with Brooklyn.

Swim Team Labor Day Swim

This is Brooklyn's 4th and final year on the Cascade High School girl's swim team. She was chosen by her coach as one of the swim captains this year. She has done a great job organizing a team fundraiser car wash, designing and picking out team clothes and a team swim suit. She has been practicing everyday for the past couple of weeks in preparation for their first swim meet that will be in a couple of weeks. They have a tradition every Labor Day of swimming across Silver Lake. Labor Day Monday was a beautiful sunny, warm day and Brooklyn was excited to swim with the rest of her brave teammates!
Group picture before the swim.

Here she is with Steve just before diving into the lake.
Nice action shot of Brooklyn diving into the lake. It's about 1 1/4 miles over and back.

Yeah...she made it! Check out that cute smile! We are looking forward to a fun swim season watching Brooklyn.

Happy Birthday Steve!

Last week we celebrated Steve's birthday.
A few days before his actual birthday I surprised him with a homemade German Chocolate Cake delivered to the church so he could celebrate with the ward council - birthday hat and all!

Steve took the day off on his Birthday so we could celebrate all day long! He tagged along with us to the mall so that Brooklyn could do some school clothes shopping. That evening the three of us went to the temple to do baptisms. It was a fun night to be together in the temple. After we got home Steve finally got to open his gifts!
Mackenzie sent Steve a book. She read parts of this book for one of her history classes and she really liked it.  She knew that her dad would like it too. Steve enjoyed talking with Mackenzie on the phone as he opened the gift from her.
Brooklyn's gift to her dad was so cute. She wrapped up 5 different boxes and hid them all over the house.  Steve had to go on a treasure hunt to find the gifts. She gave Steve a "Daddy-Daughter" date as her gift to him. She planned out each thing they will be doing on their date. Steve can't wait to redeem his gift.
Steve requested angel food cake with strawberries and whip cream for his birthday cake.
We sure had a fun day celebrating. We LOVE you Steve! Happy Happy Birthday!
