Mukilteo Beach
Mackenzie has been in band camp for the past 2 weeks so Grandma and Grandpa LeBaron haven't seen much of her while they have been here. But Brooklyn and I have had a lot of fun spending time out exploring and doing things together with them. One day we went over to Mukilteo beach for a picnic. It was fun to sit and watch the ferry loading up passengers and cars to ferry over to Whidbey Island and watching all the boats out on the water.

After watching Mackenzie march in the parade yesterday we all went to the Evergreen State Fair. Mackenzie went with all the band kids and we went together and had a great time.
Steve, Brooklyn and Grandpa entered the "Homemade Ice Cream" contest. They had three teams and "Team LeBaron" was one of them. They gave them all the ingredients for hand cranked - homemade ice cream. They were given a vanilla based ice cream and then added fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. They each took turns hand cranking it.
And guess what? Team LeBaron won first place! Here they are with their first place ribbon! We each got a big cup full of their yummy ice cream and it was really good.
Our favorite part of the fair is going to see all the animals. Here is Brooklyn with a goat named Ellie! Ellie loved Brooklyn's necklace and kept trying to take a nibble out of it!

Brooklyn and Steve rode on this crazy ride called the "Zipper". Brooklyn loved the ride but Steve wasn't so sure! The ride turned them completely upside down and all of the lose change in Steve's pocket came falling out! We had a great time at the fair and it was fun to share it with Grandma and Grandpa.

Mackenzie is in the marching band at the High School again this year and has been in band camp for the past two weeks. It has been fun to go over the the High School and watch the band practicing in the parking lot. Yesterday was their first performance as a new band. They marched in the parade in Monroe that kicks off the Evergreen State Fair. They won best band and best overall parade entry!
We had a lot of fun going to the parade. Here is a picture of Brooklyn with the Seafair pirates. You make a pretty cute pirate Brooklyn!
Mackenzie looking so serious! She isn't supposed to crack a smile and was doing a pretty good job of staying focused even though her Dad was running along side the band to snap some pictures!
It was a lot of fun to see Mackenzie in action! She looked so cute in her band uniform! We are looking forward to going to all the Cascade High School football games and competitions this fall to watch Mackenzie and the band perform. Congrats Kenz for doing a fabulous job on your first marching band performances today! You were AWESOME! :-)

Thursday was Steve's Birthday. Steve took the day off from work and stayed home and we played all day. It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time hanging out at the pool.
Grandma and Grandpa even got in the pool. They jumped off the diving board a few times too. We love it when our parents don't act their age!

Last Monday Steve's parents flew into town from Utah to visit us for a week. That evening we took the family to a Mariner's baseball game in Seattle.
On the way down to the stadium we stopped at Dick's drive-in for hamburgers and milkshakes before the game. Here we are enjoying our yummy dinner!

Hosting Bunco
Last Thursday I hosted our ladies monthly Bunco Group at my house. It was a gorgeous day so we set everything up outside by the pool for the game. As always we had a great time playing and being crazy together.
Munching on appetizers!
Table one!
Table two!
Table three!
After we were done playing, having dessert and handing out the prizes a couple of us ladies got crazy and jumped into the pool. The pool temp was up to 85 degrees so the water was toasty warm - even warmer then it was outside. Thanks to all our subs who came and played with us...we had a great time together.

Girl's Camp Service Project
I was asked again this year to head up the service project for stake Girl's Camp. I searched and searched for a fun project and came up with the idea of making these cute little newborn baby caps. We will be donating them to a local charity here in Snohomish County that helps homeless, low income and unwed Mothers. Our goal was for each girl at camp to make 3 caps and we reached our goal and a few more!
I had a committee of 3 ladies that helped me and I also recruited one of my friends - Heather - to go up to camp with me to help with the project. The service project was a HUGE success and I never could have pulled it off without all of their help.

Grandma & Grandpa Smith's Visit
This past week my parents came up from California for a visit. We were excited to have them come and visit us in August when we were sure the weather would be nice and hot so we could spend a lot of our time at the pool. Unfortunately or fortunately our 100 degree record breaking weather was the week before they arrived! The week they were here it was 30 degrees cooler and most of the week was cloudy and cool. We did have a couple of nice days at the beginning of the week to swim and play at the pool so we took advantage of that.
One day we took a picnic lunch over to Mukilteo beach. We had fun watching the ferry, playing games, visiting and walking along the beach.
You can't go over to Mukilteo beach without going to Ivar's for ice cream cones! So here we are enjoying our ice cream as we walked along the pier watching the men fishing.
Another day we took a drive over to the Ballard locks. It's one of our favorite places to go. It's so fun to watch those big yachts and small boats come into the locks.
A group picture at the locks!
Friday night our girls had a swim meet. Mackenzie and Brooklyn were excited to have Grandma and Grandpa at their meet. Here is a picture of Brooklyn doing one of her favorite strokes the butterfly.
Mackenzie diving into the water off the starting block for the 100 yard free style.
For those of you who haven't experienced a swim meet before...they are a lot of fun but... you are at the meets for about 5 hours. Each child swims 4 events and there are a total of 64 events! Because the meets so long before we leave we pack up everything but the kitchen sink and then off we go! Here is a picture of us sitting outside the pool area relaxing and enjoying dinner together while we wait for our girls events.
Yesterday we took a drive down by the water and had fun exploring sites we have never seen before. We stopped at Ivar's on the water front down by the University of Washington for some lunch.

Even though the weather wasn't that great we didn't have any rain so we were able to get out and enjoy the sites of this beautiful state. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for making the trek out here to visit. We sure had a great time and look forward to your next visit.
