Kitchen Remodel - Part 2

I thought I'd do an update on our kitchen remodel.
I
Steve had to go to France last week on business so our remodel stopped while our construction foreman and crew were gone! He got back on Friday and worked all day Saturday on installing the cabinets. Steve has had to move plug outlets, relocate the water line for the ice maker water, install wiring for the accent lighting etc. It’s coming together slowly but it’s exciting seeing it all come together. We have been out of a kitchen for 3 weeks now. Steve had to go to France last week on business so our remodel stopped while our construction foreman and crew were gone! A few weeks ago we went downtown Seattle to pick out our granite. 6 stores and 2 1/2 hours later we had our granite picked out. Right now I am in the process of picking out knobs and pulls for the cabinets and picking out a kitchen faucet. This is harder then it was to pick out our granite!

Before Steve left for France he installed my new oven. I now have a double oven! Yay!

We are doing ok in our temporary kitchen.

I am so glad I have my old cabinets to store our food and dishes in. We sold our old cabinets on Craigslist but the people we sold them to don't want them until the first part of June.

The dust is everywhere but it’s been fun to read everyone’s messages they leave written on the furniture in the dust! We have cabinets, crown molding and baseboards everywhere in the house.

And eating dinner in our living room has definitely improved all our manners.

It’s been fun so far and I can not wait until it’s all done so I can cook and entertain family and friends in our new kitchen.

Mackenzie & Mormon Prom

Each Spring our church puts on a "Mormon Prom" - for L.D.S. youth ages 16 to 18 from as far South as Issaquah and as far North as Marysville. The past two weeks has been fun picking out Mackenzie's dress and ordering it from a store in Utah, picking out shoes, a purse, just the right jewelry, and anticipating the fun that she would have. Well, the day finally came...but first it all started with a question...

Mackenzie asked her friend Austin to Mormon Prom. I helped her make brownies and then she piled them up into a mountain and put army men all over the brownies along with a sign that read...

Within minutes of delivering them to Austin Mackenzie got a text from him that read, "YES I will go to Mormon Prom with you"!

The day before the dance Mackenzie got together with her friend Heidi to make the boutonnieres for their dates. Heidi's mom helped them and I was there to take pictures.

They were so easy to do and the girls had fun making them.

Before Austin came we took lots of pictures of Mackenzie all dressed up and ready to go.

Her dress had a lace up back that was so pretty.

Walking the plank...

Pining the boutonniere on Austin. I think he was worried she would poke him with the pin...but she didn't.

Ahhh...what a cute couple.

Group picture before they left to go out to dinner.

It was a beautiful day but just as they were leaving it started pouring down rain so the guys had to use these big umbrellas to keep their beautiful dates dry.

Steve and I were asked to help out at the dance. As Steve was the chauffer for Mackenzie, her date and the two other couples, he did not get there until around 9:00 p.m. However, my good friend Sarah came with me and we were assigned to run one of the dessert stations. We served over 500 brownie sundaes. I am a pro now at serving soft serve ice cream!

Mackenzie and Austin dancing!

It was so awesome to see 500+ LDS youth from our area having such a great time together. Mackenzie had a really good time and it was fun to be a part of helping to plan a fun evening for her and her friends.
