Summer Vacation in beautiful So Cal

Mackenzie finished up her second semester at BYU-I. She likes Rexburg and wanted to see if she could stay there during the 7-week break, get a job and even stay through fall doing night and online classes. With that change of plans we decided very last minute to all fly down to So Cal for a family vacation. Mackenzie took a bus from Rexburg, Idaho to Salt Lake and flew from there to Long Beach. We arrived within an hour of each other - it was great to see Mackenzie. We have sure missed her.
On Sunday we went to church in the ward we attended when we lived there.  It's always fun to see friends from when we lived down there.
We took this picture after church.
Sunday night we took a drive over to see the Newport Beach temple. We had fun walking around the temple grounds.
Monday we went to over to Laguna beach. Brooklyn and Steve went out snorkeling and to swim with the sea lions. We also shopped at all our favorite surf shops.
Tuesday morning we drove down to San Diego so we could go to Sea World.
Steve and Mackenzie rode on the Shipwreck Rapids. Brooklyn and I decided not to ride it because we didn't want to get wet!
 Brooklyn relaxing in the shade.
Looks like you got a little wet on that ride!

Feeding the sea lions.

Riding the Rip Tide.

Thursday we went to Disneyland!Mackenzie and Brooklyn were so excited.  Like 2 little girls going for the first time!
The girls got get pictures lots of characters. Here they are with Alice.

Here they are with Tianna from Princess and the Frog.

Minnie and Daisy Duck!

While we were waiting for the parade Mackenzie got to see Marry Poppins and Bert. She was so excited!
One of our favorite rides is Star Tours. Here we are waiting to board our star ship - rode it 4 times.
The tea cup ride is also another favorite. But Steve will never go on it with us - he likes his lunch to stay in his stomach...
I always knew Steve was "Goofy"!
 Trying on silly hats!
We arrived at Disneyland at 8:00 a.m. and didn't leave the park until just before 1:00 in the morning. We definitely got a full days worth of fun. We never get tired of Disney. We had a great time together.
The last 2 days of our vacation we spent at the beach. We went to Newport Beach and went boogie boarding. The waves were perfect.
Steve and Mackenzie walked over to the "Crab Cooker" to bring back some red chowder and french bread to the beach for lunch. Another So Cal favorite.
One morning we rented bikes and rode all over Newport Beach and Balboa Island.
It was a beautiful day for a bike ride.
Taking the small ferry ride back from Balboa Island.
We had 8 days of absolute FUN! It was awesome to be together as a family!
